Time goes so fast it is hard for be to believe that just one year ago JR weighed just 71 pounds, and now he is a yearling Bull.
CCI JR Cherokee Classic - AORB Champion Bull at the Idaho JR Beef Expo.
JR is a late bloomer I can't wait to see what he looks like at 18 months.
My Cow/Calf pair also were Grand Champion AORB Cow/Calf (Cow/ASV Vilari 133-032 and Heifer calf/Norseman Kings Classic Lady) I call the heifer Wynona as a 3month old heifer she did very well she also won Resv. Champion AORB Heifer.
My Black Angus Heifer BRA Ideal Brickhouse was Resv. in her in her class. After it was all said and done I was very pleased with how my cattle did at this show.
The Idaho Jr. Beef Expo is a Black Angus show, this year they also had the Northwest Regional Jr. Hereford Show; there were a lot of beautiful cattle there. Congratulations to all the winning showmen and winning cattle.
I had a great time and I will see you all next year. Hope everyone has a great summer.
(CCI JR Cherokee Classic Reg# 1524773). JR. is now 9 months old and growing like a weed.
We still have snow on the ground here; but the weather was in the 20's so I thought I would take a few pictures.
here is some rear views.
JR is the prodigy of BJR JR 107 he is cool, calm and structurally sound.
What else could I have ask for in my first calf!!
I hope to take him to a couple of shows this year.
I can not wait for spring and for my next set of calves to hit the ground; I love calving season!!
I will post new pictures of JR. when he is a year old.
Today I finished my first educational power point for a 4-H work-shop that I organized on Beef Breeding.
The Work-shop includes my power point, and guest speakers. The guest speaker will give talks on, reading EPD & genetics, heifer and cow/calf nutritional needs, shots & vaccinations, and on setting a budget.
The fliers were sent out on January 1, 2013.
The work-shop is free here is hoping that there is an interest in beef breeding.
This year one of my goals is to pass on as much information as possible to those interested in becoming a future cow/calf producer.
